Welcome back to The Great Substack Prompt Celebration! Heather Huffman, Nicole Rivera and the Fictionistas crew are back for writing inspiration through a writing prompt, community connection through a live Zoom call and thread, and an opportunity to get your fiction Substack pages read by even more readers!
Each month we
share a writing prompt,
have a live Zoom call where we write together (we call this our Writing Prompt Party!), and then
we wrap up the month by asking all participants to share their stories for everyone to read.
This month we will be following the same model as last month where we will be encouraging everyone to read and share the stories shared at the end of the month.
Let’s Talk Discipline and Motivation
I recently had an online chat with a writer seeking advice about getting the motivation to do the work. She had said, “When you find yourself unmotivated to write but you love your book and want to see it finished what do you do?” So many comments were along the lines of, “You do it anyway.” I get this, and I am sure she did too, but let’s dig a little deeper for this month’s chat:
What is your current discipline and motivaton for geetting your writing done?
Are you a scheduler who shows up to the page at regular time slots, or do you have a ritual that you use to get in the zone? Is there something else entirely? Let us know!
Mark Your Calendar & Grab Your Link
You officially have one week to warm up before this month’s fun begins. Remember, Fictionistas who join the Writing Prompt Party will be the first to get this month’s prompt and the first to get some real-time reactions to their first drafts!
Your Official Invitation to Party
The March Writing Prompt Party will be on April 11, 2024 at 6PM Eastern. We would love to see you there (but keep in mind, if you can’t make it, we will be posting the prompt to Fictionistas after the meeting)!

What I am looking for is a proper contract with a publisher or a TV or movie studio.I invested a lot of money [around 3000 to 4000 dollars] and want to reach as many readers as possible. Only ten people bought my novel and for starters, I am not expecting hundreds of thousands of books to be sold... a couple of hundred for a starter would be good. My ''actual job'' is a factory worker and I make only around 450 US dollars a month....and that is just good enough to pay the bills and buy some groceries and not much else. Just traveling in my country is expensive, and it's not gonna get cheaper. Not looking to become a millionaire but having 2,000 or 3000 Euros on my bank account would make life at least a little easier. Here is a sample from a chapter of my novel's first drawings of my comic which are based on my short story-Wonderful Story about a Girl with Papovka-some of my short stories and my brief biography. One short story is published in Slovenia in the fiction magazine Supernova and another in the UK in the magazine Schlock https://www.schlock.co.uk/pb/wp_796220a9/wp_796220a9.html and link to an English version of my novel it is also published in Serbian too https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/strigorovs-forest-tomislav-takac/1140950904 Also I was helpful to Balkanska Smotra in Leskovac so they send me a thank you note. the story '' Wonderful story about a girl with Papovka '' is the one being adapted into a comic book. it will be finished in 2 or 3 months. We will publish the comic in Serbia next June in a comic book magazine, and probably in the Bulgarian comic book magazine Duga [rainbow] and maybe even in the Montenegro fiction magazine Athanatik
