Hey Fictionistas,
Last night we had our latest call for the Great Substack Prompt Celebration. I am happy to say we had the opportunity to meet new writers and new participants, but we know there are more of you out there waiting anxiously for this month’s prompt so you can get started. Sorry for the slight delay in posting, my comic book loving family swept me away to DC’s latest release the millisecond it was available to us to see (in other words, directly after the prompt party last night!).
So, without further adieu, let’s get this party rolling for the whole community:
First, What Are The Rules Here?
If you missed the post with all the information and instructions you can read via the link below. Don’t worry you can still participate. Grab your laptop or pen and paper and join the fun!
What We Are All Here For: The Prompt
Your dog has dug a large hole in your backyard and is losing their mind about what’s inside. You look in the hole and know instantly that you will be on the news.
Credit: This prompt was created by the one and only, Heather Huffman from Sprinkled Inspiration. Do not forget to subscribe to that substack for daily prompt inspiration throughout the year!
What now?
Now that the party is over, it’s time to polish your piece to get it ready for next week’s discussion thread. Get your polished story (no longer than 1000 words) on your Substack page and put the link in the comments of the thread post we will share next Thursday. If the story doesn’t go with what you typically post you can leave a link to a view only Google doc and post it in the comments.
Once you share your stories, the community will start reading, and we’ll be looking for the stories that impress us most!
Let’s write together this month, Fictionistas!
I’m Heather, creator and face behind Sprinkled Inspiration. If you’re looking for more prompts, I’m your girl! I post daily prompts and Have a feature Friday where other creatives share a prompt of their own. Join Here
I’m Nicole creator of all things Stop Writing Alone including a podcast, a YouTube channel, and a Substack community hosting multiple monthly Live Zoom Events for writers seeking community. If you are ready to truly stop writing alone, join here.
So, just to make sure (this is my first Fictionistas prompt entry), the link thread post goes up next Thursday, June 22nd? But we can post our stories on our own page before then?
Thanks! I'm excited about the prompt and am really looking forward to this!
I would love to participate, but I'm just too busy this month launching my fiction newsletter and starting a freelance writing career! Hopefully I'll be able to commit next month to a prompt. How my newsletter works, I don't think I'd be able to post it there without creating confusion either, so it'd have to be a separate entity. Is that possible or can you only link from your own page?
From what I understand, Fictionistas is a conglomerate of fiction writers on this platform. Is there a way to join this community? I'll be sharing Fictionistas in my recommendations so others can find great fiction!
