May's Let's Write Together
We just had our fourth call for the Great Substack Prompt Celebration and it was wonderful to meet some new Substack writers!
A Quick Announcement/Opportunity for Substack Writers
We had extra time to get some writer chat in around our writing and reading which was wonderful, but one topic that came up that I am eager to share with all of you was the announcement of the second season of THE LUNAR AWARDS!
The Lunar Awards is an opportunity to get your speculative short stories, read, recognized and shared widely. It is hosted by Fictionistas own, Brian Reindel and season two went live this week. How does this relate to the prompt you are waiting for?
Well, if you choose to take this month’s prompt into the speculative realm, then you have two places to share it — here and then submit it for consideration for a Lunar Award!
Please read Brian’s post completely to get all the details for submission if you are interested:
What Are The Rules Here?
If you missed the post with all the information and instructions you can read via the link below. Don’t worry you can still participate. Grab your laptop or pen and paper and join the fun!
Your enemies have backed you against the edge of a cliff. Far below you is a treacherous torrent of water. What happens next?

Now that the party is over, what’s next you wonder. Polish your piece and when the discussion thread is posted next Thursday post it on your Substack page and put the link in the comments. If the story doesn’t go with what you typically post you can leave a link to a view only Google doc and post it in the comments. Stories should be 1,000 words or less.
(NOTE: If you are participating in the Lunar Awards, the story must be published on a Substack page.)
Once you share your stories, the community will start reading, and we’ll looking for the stories that impress us most!
Let’s write together this month, Fictionistas!
