Greetings, Fictionista!
November was a blur, amirite???
To those who took the NaNoWriMo challenge this month, we wish you the best as you barrel down the home stretch. Whether you have “finished” your novel on November 30th or merely made a dent in what will continue to be a work in progress, you should feel accomplished. Any number of words on any number of days during any month of any year is worthy of celebration.
Here’s to your words this month, and in the months ahead!
Fiction Fiction EVERYWHERE!
I had the awesome privilege of being ambassador for
’s this week!I read over forty pieces of fiction in two days, including all of the pieces shared in this month’s Flashy Fiction Thread, before choosing fifteen favorites to be featured in this week’s issue. Not an easy task, I assure you.
If you’re looking for even MORE great fiction to read on Substack, and even MORE great writers to merge minds and rub elbows with, both of these posts are a fantastic place to start.
And if you haven’t submitted your own work to either
(weekly) or The Great Substack Prompt Celebration (monthly), you’re missing a prime opportunity to get your writing in front of eager reader eyeballs!!!You can also share your writing HERE
Like my buddy
did this month. If you’d like to submit a guest post to be devoured by thousands of eager reader eyeballs, my partner
’s door is always open.Let’s raise a glass in “virtual” person!
Please SAVE-THE-DATE for our next virtual meetup.

The theme for this year’s holiday Zoom is “BRING YOUR PRESENT.”
Not that kind of present.
I mean, bring your “RIGHT NOW.”
Rather than reminiscing about our 2024 accomplishments or prognosticating about our fortunes in 2025, let’s spend our December get together celebrating the good things that are happening for us in “our present” moment.
A breakthrough on a work in progress
A burst of inspiration for a short story
A positive connection with a new friend in the fiction community
A leap of faith taken
An important writing life decision made
A really good sandwich eaten
A virtual hug from Fictionistas received!
No “present” is too small. It’s the thought that counts!
And don’t stress if you don’t have something to share. We still really want to hang out with you.
BYOB.
Ugly sweaters and/or holiday bling welcome encouraged.
Hope you can make it!
Until next time!
Please share the good vibes of Fictionistas with your favorite people.
You’re OUR favorite people. And we’re so thankful you’re here.
Cordially,
and
So happy I found this group and I can’t wait to see you all virtually next month!
Thanks for the shoutout, Meg! And thanks again for all you do reviewing the Flash Fiction pieces. Wow, 40 stories! Even at 1,000 words max, that's quite the commitment!
I'm signed up for December's virtual meet-up. All my sweaters are ugly, so it's the one day I can wear them and get compliments. (It's the little things, you know?)
