If you have spent the year joining in, and enjoying, our writing prompt party celebrations and inspiration here in Fictionistas, then we hope you’ll understand that these things require a bit of creative replenishing. It is time to take a brief summer hiatus to fill up our creative cups. We hope you are taking the time to do the same for yourself and your fiction.
How Long Is The Hiatus?
The current plan is to wind down for July and August, to return to our regularly scheduled parties, prompts and threads in September.
Inspiration Can Still Be Found!
If you are completely caught off guard by this announcement and find yourself in deperate need of inspiration for your fiction, please don’t forget that both Heather and Nicole were asked to be here because writing prompt sharing is a habit neither of them has been able to break, so they both have archives of inspiration for you to use.
Sprinkled Inspiration is Heather L. Huffman’s substack page filled with years of daily writing prompts for you to choose from.
Nicole Rivera’s Stop Writing Alone substack page has a whole section devoted to prompts, most of which come from her NV Rivera YouTube channel where she challenges herself to share 52 prompts in 52 weeks (and has succeeded a couple of times!)
So, no excuses! Go ahead and set a schedule for yourself to randomly pick one of these prompts next Thursday and WRITE. Then go ahead and share the story on your Substack the week after that. Keep writing, but do not forget to fill your own creative cup as well!
Let’s Talk About Refilling Our Cups
As we quiet down here in prompt party land, other parts of our lives get loud. It’s a good thing, too, for this is where so much of our inspiration comes from. Road trips, reading, drawing, fireworks, lazy days, family game time, dancing, music, pools, beaches, zoos, museums, aquariums, soccer, and more are up ahead. All things that help me color creatively all the way up to the lines, but here’s my question for you:
How do you refill your creative cup?
Is it a annual tradition or something more regular? Do you have specific activities that you always turn to, or does every season require its own kind of inspiration? Let us know in the commons what you need to incorporate into your routine to ensure you are at your best when crafting your fiction.
See You Soon, Fictionistas!
Have a wonderful break this July and August! Can’t wait to continue our writing journey this Fall!
Happy writing!
