"Summer Dreams" Replay

Recap of our 6-12-24 virtual sharing circle
7

Greetings, Fictionistas!

Thanks to the fab few who joined in on our summer kick-off chat yesterday. It was great to see some familiar faces, as well as a few newbies in the small, but wonderfully engaged, crowd.

The best part of the event was that EVERYONE participated by sharing their summer goals, projects, and plans, as well as the potential challenges they would face in trying to get it all done.

Here are just a few of the things your fellow Fictionistas will be focusing on this summer:

  • Finishing a novel (or two)

  • Revising a novel

  • STARTING a novel

  • Developing a virtual masterclass

  • House hunting

  • Finding and joining an in-person writing group

  • Establishing a sustainable daily writing habit

  • Creating boundaries around that newly established habit

  • Completing research for a non-fiction project

  • Keeping the ball rolling on serialized fiction

  • Hosting a podcast

  • Writing X-men inspired fan fiction! 💜

  • Wrangling kids and maintaining work/family/creativity balance

  • Maintaining momentum on a new Substack publication

  • Dusting off and reinvigorating back burner projects

  • Carving out real time for the things we love doing (like writing fiction)

  • Writing more fiction

If you have your own summer goal to share, please drop it in the comments! We’d love to hear what you’re working on and provide you with a more robust cheering section.

The future of Fictionistas.

Add the end of the meeting, we spent some time discussing what Fictionistas was, is, and might become in the months ahead. We talked leadership, content strategies, and weighed the pros and cons of keeping it alive for our growing community of fiction writers and readers on Substack (and beyond.)

Obviously, the PROs won out.

Fictionistas is here to stay.

We’ll be doing some shuffling and delegating and restructuring behind the scenes with the goal of bolstering this publication’s reputation as a valuable resource for fiction writers at any stage of their creative journey.

If you have input, questions, or thoughts on the future on Fictionistas, feel free to leave a comment on this post, or reach out to us by email: fictionistas@substack.com

Thank you for your ongoing support and engagement. Please share this energizing replay with your fiction friends.
