🎵 Do you remember
the 14th day of September?
Join your fellow Fictionista members
Cause it’s Substack Meetup Day…
This is a reminder that we’re getting together on Wednesday, Sept 14th at 11 am PT / 1 pm CT / 2 pm ET / 18:00 UTC. (We alternate times to accommodate people with different schedules and time zones.) There will be Substack in-person meetups happening in several cities, as well as virtual hangouts like ours.
Join us! If you’re new to Fictionistas, here’s what you can expect from a meeting…
Meet the fiction author community on Substack.
Learn tips for growing your fiction newsletter.
Hear about the latest projects we’re working on
We’ll talk about extending an olive branch to our arch-rivals The Food Writers. (Just kidding, we’ll always hate their GUTS!!!)
We’ll be kicking off the meeting with a question: What concrete goal do you have for your newsletter that you want to achieve by end of the year? Think about it. Meditate on it. Lucid dream about it? Bring your answer to the meetup.
If you can’t make the call live, we endeavor to bring you the recording shortly afterward.

See you in a few days!
So sorry to miss this. I will look forward to seeing the recording.
Should you need a topic to discuss, I am wondering if any of the authors are keeping a "process journal" about how they are putting together their novel, whether they are publishing it and whether they are publishing it ahead of publishing the novel. (All present tense, can be changed to past if someone has already done it.) Obviously, I am planning on doing it but also wonder whether I'll make some of my meager number of subscribers head for the hills.
Also am curious if other authors are offering their work for free in exchange for donations to non-profits.
Peace.
(I’m new to Substack, onlu just transferred my newsletter subscribers from another service provider. And trying to find interesting writer-groups.)
I keep a journal of my writing process. I use a goodnotes journal where I each day mark how much time I have used to writing (and my newsletter) + word count for the day and week. I also couldn’t resists a pretty notebook at a local bookstore and am writing my process there daily as well by hand. Other than that, I use Plottr to plan my storyline and Dabblewriter to write it. I used Scrivener in the past, but Dabble is good in that respect you can use it online from any device you connect to internet with. (Also I didn’t need all the bells and whistles of Scrivener.)
