RESTACK the stories you read in Substack Notes to expand the discoverability of all the participants in this prompt party! (One of my fav ways to do this is by highlighting a favorite sentence and restacking with that. More about restacking here.)
Your fiction MUST be written to the prompt in the previous post.
Your fiction must not exceed 1,000 words.
We will only read Substack or view-only Google Doc links, in other words…
This thread is for LINKS ONLY*

We read the stories in this thread an share them
The other participants read the stories in this thread and share them

*Note: Please use this thread for links and likes only—share your comments with the writers on their Substack page OR in your Note when you restack them!
This was a fantastic prompt. And, in true discovery writing fashion, it started in one direction, then took a creative turn toward a theme and embraced it. Thanks for the opportunity.
I’m sorry to say I’ve lost contact with her and no more stories about the amateur entomologist will be forthcoming. Last I heard, she bagged the body in industrial plastic and threw in a few hundred Dermestid beetles and several Febreze air fresheners. I received a postcard from her that had a Zurich postmark and smelled strongly of formaldehyde. I don’t think she currently resides in Switzerland; it was only a ruse to throw me off her scent. Her father is still looking for his missing vial of strychnine but has not reported it to the police.
This is very random, but the art you used for this made me think of Anthy from Revolutionary Girl Utena.
One of the best shows ever, highly recommend. If you like a show that's deep & mysterious & like to critique tropes, Revolutionary Girl Utena is for you.
It's great for fascinating imagery & themes which could spark writerly ideas.
My story is chapter 2 of a bio-horror novel I'm working on. It is inspired by the story of Medea. I am posting a google link. God, I hope I did it right.
Hi Tabitha, I really enjoyed this! Especially as I’m currently reading Circe by Madeline Miller. Please consider publishing it to Substack so I can restack it 😊
Wow! This is scary. I am brand new to fiction, like baby deer new, and just as awkward, but this seems like such a positive community. I did a Google doc because I'm not sure yet how fiction will fit into my Substack. Crossing my fingers, I did this right.
My story is a continuation of the one from last month's prompt, which concerned a bullied youth and his imagined companion:

This episode sees the protagonist coming to a reckoning with his tormentor - warning, quite violent toward the end.

Sometimes, in college, you learn much more outside the classroom. https://vincewetzel.substack.com/p/extra-curricular
That was quite original. :)
I am on vacation and had to write this on my phone. I hope it still works: https://open.substack.com/pub/jimminns/p/the-toecutter?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=wtc3f
Interesting. I liked the analogy.
Thanks for reading!
My story is based on two cards - magnify and fight the giant. - https://nevenapascaleva.substack.com/p/nina-and-the-wolf
It's a good thing titles aren't included in the final word count.

Oh! I love dark humor. This character is really interesting. I want to read more about her. I hope she disposes of the body and gives us more stories.

Hello Fictionistas, I'm brand new here. This is the link of the story I wrote: https://open.substack.com/pub/alexdearden/p/lucky-xami
Hope you like it and please let me know in the comments :)
PS
I chose the Luck and Magnify motifs.

My story is based on zooming in/taking a closer look (or lack thereof) and dumb luck.

A-ha! Took me awhile to find this thread. Here's mine, which I think is really still a W.I.P., but...
