March 2023 The Great Substack Prompt Celebration

fictionistas.substack.com

Last month we launched and introduced The Great Substack Prompt Celebration, a month long looking to Inspire you (we shared a writing prompt with you), to give you a chance to Write Together (we invited you to a Writing Prompt Party), to Share Your Stories (we created a thread Just for your stories based on the prompt), and to have a chance to Feature Your Fiction on our Fictionistas Substack page (we shone a spotlight on three Fictionistas participants and their substack pages). Well, Fictionistas WE ARE DOING IT AGAIN!

What is The Great Substack Prompt Celebration?

As we explained in our launch last month, The Great Substack Prompt Celebration is a month-long writing adventure open to any and all fiction writers who are currently writing their own Substack. If you want to read a detailed description of our motivation and inspiration, please read that first post:

If you are ready to jump into the fun this month with us, here’s are the steps:

Step 1: The Writing Prompt Party/Get The Prompt

If you are available for our Live Writing Prompt Party hosted by Nicole Rivera on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 6PM Eastern Time, this is the perfect place to begin. You will meet up with other participants, get the prompt early, get time to begin your story and to read it aloud to the group while listening to what others were inspired to write.

If you can’t make it to the Writing Prompt Party, the Writing Prompt will be shared in a post on Fictionistas on the night of March 9th, after the Writing Prompt Party, so keep an eye on your inbox.

Step 2: Share Your Story

On the morning of Thursday, March 16, 2023 we will host a thread post inviting you to share your story of the month. Continue the Prompt Celebration by participating in these ways:

  • share a link to your story or story excerot (no longer than 1000 words) based on the prompt of the month

  • read and share your fellow Fictionistas’ work!

Step 3: End the Month with Applause

We will conclude the month’s celebration by sharing one more post featuring:

  • Your Favorite Fiction of the month (make sure you use that LIKE button in the thread of the month!)

  • Heather’s Favorite Fiction of the month, and

  • Nicole’s Favorite of the month (see what we picked in February!)

Make sure you check out this post to cheerlead those in the spotlight, or to shoutout the fiction you want to shine a spotlight on in the comments!

Let’s Get Started!

Go sharpen your pencils and charge up your laptops, you have one week to warm up before all the fun begins. We can’t wait to write with you this month!

Your Official Invitation to Party

Remember, the March Writing Prompt Party will be on March 9, 2023 at 6PM Eastern. We would love to see you there!
