if you get super addicted to hanging with other writers virtually, I've got lots of other things going on this month too! https://stopwritingalone.substack.com/p/may-2023-events

I'll mark the date and try and join this time, if I have not fallen asleep! (6pm EST is midnight here). 😴

I totally understand that. I was once a night owl who ADORED writing through the night over any other time of day, now I am lucky if I can keep my eyes open after 11pm!

I need to figure out what time this is in the UK and maybe I'll join. I'm assuming it's open to all genres?

All writers are welcome! I've got some virtual buddies in the UK, so I always have my world clock ready to show me London time. Right now you guys are five hours ahead of us, so that would make this Prompt Party 11PM UK time, as long as we haven't reached that weird part of the year where you are switching your clocks at a different time than we switch our clocks. (I think that was in March, so I think we are safe, but I never trust that Time Zones won't find a new way to screw my brain up!)

Hahaha yeah we do that forward and back thing in March and October. So yes 11pm. Maybe I can stay awake!!

There was this one time it was me in NY, a friend in California, a friend in Florida, and two friends in UK trying to host a weekly online chat. We had people tuning in from all over -- one woman was waking up at 4 in the morning in Australia! All was going well until that October. We had changed our clocks here in the US, but no one else had. It took us an extra half hour of a meeting to figure out what time everyone was showing up for the next two weeks. I think I am still scarred by that experience! Lmao!!

BTW, what is your genre of choice?

I write horror and uncanny stuff. I figured I may have to put a content warning maybe, especially if folk aren't expecting horror?

I have definitely run into unexpected horror in writing prompt parties before. I think some of those stories stick with me more than anything else. We had a prompt a couple of months ago that had something to do with someone taking in cats or something, and A WHOLE BUNCH OF PEOPLE went to dark places with those cats! Lol. It was kind of funny by the end of reading all the stories. I don't remember if anyone gave a warning at first.

Oh that sounds right up my street. I'll see how I go with it. I love the unexpected element too.

Hi Nicole, did you end up getting my email about the Lunar Awards? I sent it to your Substack email, so there is a possibility it went into spam. Let me know if there is another email address I should use. Thanks!
