Great summary for something I could not attend. Thank you! I was definitely going to paywall my fiction and have my personal newsletters and updates free. Now I’m reconsidering this based on the bullet point here. 🤔 The suggestion makes sense. I feel that I would pay to know more about the personal lives of fiction writers I love. When I launch, I will try it and see how it goes. Thank you.

Thank you guys so much for running this meeting!

A couple thoughts:

First, on the app. I’ve been “using” the app for ages. I put that in quotation marks because I never read anything in the app. It was such a slog, as I would have to remember to check it, and then I get behind and so forth. Recently, I switched back to email and I am consuming so much more Substack content now because I can read it as it comes in or within a day or so from my inbox.

Second, about audio: one of my Substacks is for St. Louis history, and every month I run a local history talk. After the talk I share the audio on my Substack. At first I thought it was probably a waste of time, but I noticed that I get quite a few listens. It’s a way for people to hear what they missed if they didn’t make it, and I think it may serve kind of like a podcast as people are driving or doing whatever. But it makes me think that audio fiction might work in a similar way, and at some point in time I’m going to experiment with it. I don’t think I’m the greatest reader, but it’s worth a shot anyway.

I guess what I’m saying is, it’s worth a shot even if you don’t have a great microphone. Even just using the built-in microphone on your computer or phone could work. If you can build engagement and may be increased reads, why not try? And of course it makes your content accessible to people with limited vision - or limited time to sit down and read.

Found this via recommendation and happy to meet fellow writers and fictionistas! What a great name! Speaking of names though, Macedonia is not the correct name as it is a large province in Greece. Thank you for recommending this publication @RussellNohelty @authorstack
